Design Challenge
Provide the design for a new Amtrak Station that will link METRORail and Amtrak commuter rail and passenger rail. The new station is to bring Houston into the modern age of rail with retail, multi-modal connections to bus, light rail, etc. The building is to provide for 12 boarding tracks, 25,000 SF of retail, including a convenient store, a diner, a bakery, ticket office, barber shop, shoe repair, dry cleaners and coffee shop. The site is contaminated with hydrocarbons. The building is to be a LEED certified building.
